Greek Fest Glendi began in 1999 as a big Street Party in Flinders Street in front of the Greek Community Centre. It was a phenomenal success, beyond everyone’s expectations and so was repeated in 2000. The festival was then moved to Strand Park for several years and then moved again to the beautiful grounds of Riverway under the raintrees where it has stayed till this day.
The festival has always been and continues to be, a FREE event for over 25,000 attendees. This year the festival will be held on 21st & 22nd August. Festival goer’s senses will come alive with traditional music and dancing displays, delectable foods and cooking demonstrations from around the Mediterranean. There will also be a variety of children’s entertainment and fun-filled activities for the whole family to be involved in. Glendi means a celebration, revelry, merrymaking.
The festival is proud to offer the community an opportunity to reflect on the values and traditions that have helped shape our country and, more importantly, our region.
